SYRACUSE, New York – May 2009 – The Institute for National Security and Counterterrorism (INSCT) is proud to announce its co-sponsorship of The Journal of National Security Law & Policy. INSCT joins University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in supporting the nation’s only journal devoted exclusively to national security law and policy.
Pacific McGeorge’s Capital Center for Public Law & Policy will continue to produce the Journal, as INSCT Director William C. Banks steps up as the new Editor-In-Chief. Banks takes over from Co-Editors-In-Chief, John Sims of Pacific McGeorge and Steve Dycus of Vermont Law School. Sims and Dycus will remain on the senior editorial team, recently expanded to include eight top scholars in law and policy. The co-sponsorship decision culminates a long-standing collaboration between Elizabeth Rindskopf Parker, Dean of Pacific McGeorge, Banks, Sims, and Dycus that dates back to the Journal’s founding.
The Journal's mission is to publish rigorous analytical thinking about the greatest challenges facing the nation and contribute to the formulation of fair, credible solutions that balance our need for liberty and security. Unlike most law journals, the Journal of National Security Law & Policy is peer reviewed. Our peer reviewers are drawn from the Journal’s distinguished Editorial Board, which includes law professors, academics from disciplines other than law, as well as members of the military, intelligence, law enforcement, and civil liberties communities. The Journal is published both online and in print, and is among the most frequently cited peer-reviewed journals relating to law.
The Journal welcomes submissions of articles, essays, and book reviews that analyze timely national security challenges and recommend policy solutions. Submissions should be made by e mail to jnslp@pacific.edu and include author resumes. For more information about the Journal write to jnslp@pacific.edu or visit http://www.mcgeorge.edu/x704.xml.
INSCT is a joint enterprise of Syracuse University’s College of Law and the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs.
