Intern, Business Development

IRI is creating student and employee partnerships that facilitate growth and development of IRI’s future leadership. The intern will support the work of IRI’s Business Development Division.
This position will start on January 21, 2025 for no more than sixteen (16) weeks and may not be extended. This is a paid position, at $17.50 per hour. Intern working hours will be minimum 20 hours per week. The Internship will end on May 9, 2025.
This role is based in Washington, DC or virtually in the US and requires current work authorization for the United States.

Position Requirements:
Current student in or recent graduate of an undergraduate or graduate program in Political Science, International Affairs, or related field
Excellent verbal and written skills in English
Familiarity with Microsoft Office
Detail-oriented individual with strong organizational and research skills
Ability to manage time effectively, work independently, complete tasks with minimal oversight, and communicate clearly and consistently in a virtual work environment.
Responsibilities:
Monitor the business forecast, Grants.gov, and Sams Domestic for solicitations and notify BD Associates when solicitations are released that may be of interest to IRI.
Monitor and provide regular updates on competitor hiring announcements related to active bids or opportunities in capture/forecast.
Send-out weekly BD newsletter on funder events, new policy launches, updates, Administrator Power speeches, etc.
Solicitation tracking with BD team oversight;
Attend BD-related events and webinars and circulates notes/key takeaways to the team;
Assist, as needed, with quality control and NOFO compliance for submission;
Make note for reference of miscellaneous ideas, activity suggestions and approaches during design sessions;
Take notes during donor feedback calls;
Develop charts, tables, text boxes and other creative alternatives that can be utilized to improve the readability and aesthetic of proposal and/or cost narratives;
Coordinate updates to division org charts and identifies portfolios relevant for BD.
Works closely with Business Development Associate/Sr. Associate and Specialists to manage internal tracking and proposal management processes:
Updating proposal timelines and sending calendar invitations and review reminders;
Creating proposal sites for new bids;
Uploading necessary templates;
Creating agendas for internal meetings and planning;
Records donor feedback and incorporates aggregated feedback as part of design and cost strategy consultations.
Learning Outcomes:
Acquire knowledge of the democracy and governance field of international development, including aspects related to program management, monitoring and evaluation, program and business development, and external affairs.
Experience in key project administration skills employers look for in entry level candidates.

The salary for this position is determined based on a wide variety of factors including but not limited to an individual’s professional experience, qualifications, education and other business needs along with internal equity considerations.
