IRI is creating student and employee partnerships that facilitate growth and development of IRI’s future leadership. The intern will support the work of IRI’s Middle East & North Africa (MENA) Division.

This position will start on January 21, 2025, for no more than sixteen (16) weeks and may not be extended. This is a paid position, at $17.50 per hour. Intern working hours will be minimum 20 hours per week. The Internship will end on May 9, 2025.

This role is based in Washington, DC or virtually in the US and requires current work authorization for the United States.

Position Requirements:

Current student in or recent graduate of an undergraduate or graduate program in Political Science, International Affairs,
Excellent verbal and written skills in English
Familiarity with Microsoft Office
Detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills
Ability to manage time effectively, complete tasks with minimal oversight, and communicate clearly and consistently in a virtual work environment.
Preferred language skills in Arabic and/or Persian
Responsibilities:

Assist researching a variety of topics for briefing papers, program proposals, and reports.
Support key record keeping functions of the division, including taking minutes as staff meetings, cleaning databases (contact lists, program inventory, etc.)
Monitors domestic and international media outlets daily for news on topics assigned.
Assist in preparing reports and presentations.
Assist staff with program administration and events, including interview coding, translating reports and other documents, logistics and other tasks as needed.
Learning Outcomes:

Acquire knowledge of the democracy and governance field of international development in including aspects related to program management, monitoring and evaluation, program and business development, and external affairs.
Experience in key project administration skills employers look for in entry level candidates.

The salary for this position is determined based on a wide variety of factors including but not limited to an individual’s professional experience, qualifications, education and other business needs along with internal equity considerations. Employees are not typically hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are made based on the aforementioned considerations.
