The Science, Technology and International Affairs Program at the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in Washington, DC invites applications for a postdoctoral research fellowship starting in fall 2023. they have two positions available. Fellows will be expected to conduct research on one or more topics of interest to the STIA Program and to collaborate with one or more members of the STIA faculty. Current faculty research examines the politics of technology and of ethical AI; clean energy innovation and global climate change; emerging infectious disease and global health; water and agriculture; nuclear security and statecraft; and the search for life on other planets, among other topics. Applicants should propose a research project and one or more STIA faculty members who they would like to mentor their ongoing research and to collaborate with on a new project. Proposals emphasizing interdisciplinary research are particularly encouraged. Fellows may have the opportunity to mentor STIA undergraduate and graduate student research assistants. There may also be an opportunity to teach or assist in teaching STIA courses if the fellow wants to obtain teaching experience although this is not required.

Postdoctoral Fellowships are awarded for one year. In some cases an extension for an additional year may be possible contingent on alternative funding sources being identified. In accepting the appointment, the fellow is expected to be in residence full time at Georgetown University for the duration of the fellowship and actively contribute to the intellectual community of the STIA program. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. prior to the fellowship start date.
