The Yale Jackson School of Global Affairs offers a two-year Master in Public Policy in Global Affairs (M.P.P.) and a one-year Master of Advanced Study in Global Affairs (M.A.S.). Our M.P.P. program prepares students to impact the global community through an academically rigorous yet flexible interdisciplinary program. Our students carry on the University’s tradition of attracting creative, intellectually curious individuals who come to Yale ready to define their own path to a career in global leadership and service. The Jackson School’s program occupies a unique place among international affairs master’s programs. Each Master’s candidate pursues an individualized course of study taking advantage of resources from across the University. For students, this is a remarkable opportunity to study with renowned Yale faculty from all disciplines. Seminars with Senior Fellows, practitioners from the public and private sector, round out the rich offerings from which students may choose. The M.P.P. program is small by design, with 30-35 students in each entering class. Coming with diverse backgrounds and career interests, Jackson’s graduate students form an intimate and loyal community. Our size and approach create a dynamic atmosphere as students become a resource to each other and a window to the diversity and complexity of the global affairs field. The Jackson School is committed to making our M.P.P. program accessible to every student who is admitted. We guarantee fellowships to cover 100% of tuition for all incoming M.P.P. students. About half of each M.P.P. cohort, including students from underrepresented regions such as Africa and Latin America, are awarded living stipends to cover the full cost of attendance. Our students leave the Jackson School with lifelong connections to colleagues working around the world in the public, nonprofit, and private sectors in diverse fields that include policy analysis, security analysis, trade and economic development, foreign affairs, human rights, international finance, and environmental policy. Jackson’s M.A.S. in Global Affairs is a one-year program for mid-career professionals. The M.A.S. is aimed at professionals with extensive experience in a field of global affairs such as international security, diplomacy, and development. The program of study is customized to a student’s individual academic and professional goals. Students take 8 courses in one year of full time study.
