Foreign Agricultural Service Diversity Fellowship Program
The Foreign Agricultural Service International Agricultural Fellowship Program (IAFP) is a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) program that identifies and prepares individuals interested in careers in USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS).
The Program provides graduate fellowships to qualified individuals who will attend two-year graduate programs in Agribusiness or Agricultural Economics at U.S. universities, provide two summer internships – one domestic and one overseas, offers mentoring from Foreign Service Officers, and provides professional development activities. Fellows enter the Foreign Agricultural Service upon successful completion of the IAFP and USDA entry requirements.
The program welcomes applicants who are passionate about global perspectives and have an interest in agricultural diplomacy. It is open to students and alumni of all universities and with any major.
The FAS International Agricultural Fellowship Program (IAFP) awards at least two fellowships with up to$106,000 over 2 years for two-year graduate program at a U.S. university and for two summer internships. For academic support, the fellowship pays up to $24,000 per year for two years towards tuition, mandatory fees, and health insurance. It also provides a $18,000 annual academic stipend to cover living expenses for each of the two years.
Fellows agree to a minimum five-year service commitment in the Department of Agriculture FAS Foreign Service.
