The Indiana University O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs and the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies are nationally recognized leaders in public and international affairs education. The O’Neill School is renowned for its interdisciplinary approach, blending public management, policy, and environmental science. With campuses in Bloomington and Indianapolis, O’Neill provides students access to wide-ranging professional networks and real-world experience. The school’s programs in nonprofit management, environmental policy, public finance, and public management consistently earn top national rankings. Its newest offerings—including public policy and joint degrees in healthcare management and international affairs—continue to push the boundaries of public service education.

The Hamilton Lugar School is dedicated to developing global leaders through deep cultural understanding, language mastery, and international engagement. HLS teaches more languages than any other U.S. university, with more than 80 language offerings and area studies programs covering every region of the world. Its programs prepare students to work across borders and sectors, with dual-degree options in collaboration with O’Neill, the Kelley School of Business, the Maurer School of Law, and others.

Joint programs between O’Neill and HLS provide a unique opportunity for students to blend public affairs training with international insight. The Master of International Affairs and the Master of Public Affairs-Master of International Affairs dual degree program allow students to gain expertise in global policy, diplomacy, development, and leadership—all within the supportive and intellectually rigorous environment of Indiana University.
