Full-time Academic Position in the Department of International Studies (DEI)
Essential Job Requirements:
A doctorate with a specialization in International Relations at the time of application.
A publication record in International Relations with prestigious publishers and/or journals indexed in JCR or Scopus. Applicants must demonstrate the potential to publish articles with an impact factor of Q1 or Q2.
Membership in or strong potential for entering the National System of Researchers (SNII).
Capacity to strengthen the DEI’s research lines in International Relations, namely: culture, foreign policy and diplomacies; governance, norms, and international organizations; migration, human rights, and humanitarian action; peace and international security; and/or topics related to international political economy.
An academic profile that will contribute to strengthening the DEI’s undergraduate program in International Relations. In addition to their own specialty, candidates for this position should have at least two years of verifiable teaching experience with positive evaluations in university-level courses that contain curriculum related to theories of International Relations.
Effective oral and written communication skills at a professional level in Spanish and English, with a level of at least C1 in the latter.
Availability to commence employment in summer/fall 2025.
Demonstrable ability to obtain research funding.
Desirable Qualifications:
Demonstrable professional potential, relevance, and impact in relation to research, teaching and networking.
Technological skills related to online teaching, teleconferencing and the operation of virtual platforms.
Familiarity with the general characteristics of the Jesuit educational model.
Ability to contribute to the development and operation of graduate programs.
Ability to contribute to the positioning of the DEI in public debates on International Relations.
Responsibilities of the Position:
The applicant must be willing to perform the following substantive functions:
Conduct research that is relevant for departmental priorities, fortify the DEI’s research culture, train undergraduate and graduate students in research as well as compete for national and/or international research funding.
Teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Provide tutoring to students and contribute to the preparation for the General Examination for Undergraduate Graduation (EGEL-RI). Supervision of undergraduate and graduate essays and theses.
Active collaboration in academic administration, promotion, tutoring, student selection and curricular evaluation. Willingness to assume some academic and administrative responsibilities in the short to medium term.
Conduct outreach and networking activities outside the university that benefit students and faculty of the DEI in social service placements, professional internships and other areas.
Promote the Department’s programs, the development and management of agreements with other universities, as well as participate in media outreach activities.
