Communication Intern
Purpose of the Role:
The Communications Intern supports the External Affairs Team on a broad range of initiatives, and can expect a fast-paced, well-rounded experience in all aspects of communications.
The ideal candidate should be curious about our work at Global Ties U.S. and be open to learning about nonprofit communications. They should have some related experience (can include coursework and/or previous internships), including the ability to line edit, draft social media posts, make simple website updates, and support our marketing and engagement campaigns. They should also possess a strong work ethic; positive, can-do attitude; and commitment to collaboration and teamwork. An interest in international affairs, advocacy, and/or public diplomacy is an asset. Through this internship, we hope to support candidates seeking careers in communications, specifically in the nonprofit or international exchange field.
Finalist candidates will be required to take and pass a brief writing and editing test.
Core Responsibilities:
• Routine communications updates (ex. website, email campaigns, social media, database management)
· Development of communications resources for the Global Ties Network, including templates, toolkits, and other communications pieces
• Publication production
• Advocacy and fundraising campaigns

Qualifications:
• Enrolled as a student during the internship period
• Background in communications, journalism, media, marketing, or related fields
• Desire to pursue a career in communications, public diplomacy, and/or international affairs
• Ability to pass a short writing and editing test

• Experience with graphic design (preferably Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva) and/or productivity software (MS Office, Google Drive, etc.) a plus

Office Operations Intern
Purpose of the Role
The Office Operations Intern supports the Operations Team with day-to-day administrative and operational functions across the organization. This role helps maintain smooth office operations, effective internal coordination, and positive office experience for staff and visitors.
The Office Operations Intern will gain hands-on experience with administrative processes, office logistics, vendor coordination, and organizational support in a fast-paced nonprofit environment. This supervised learning role will assist with assigned operational and administrative tasks under the guidance of the Senior Office Manager and Operations Team.
This internship is ideal for a student interested in working in the nonprofit sector who wants to learn how a mission-driven organization runs behind the scenes. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, adaptable, and collaborative, with related experience through coursework, student leadership, or previous internships. Proficiency in Office 365 is required.
Core Responsibilities
• Assist with day-to-day office and administrative tasks as assigned, including supply tracking, inventory support, workspace upkeep, and general administrative support.
• Help maintain accurate records and update internal systems, shared files, and operational documents.
• Support meetings and project logistics by helping coordinate schedules, prepare materials, take notes, and follow up on assigned tasks.
• Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes by helping track documentation, schedule meetings, and coordinate access, equipment, and team logistics.
• Provide administrative support for leadership, board, or special projects as assigned and under supervision.
• Contribute to special projects and process improvement efforts by supporting research, tracking action items, and completing follow-up tasks.

Qualifications

Program & Events Intern
Purpose of the Role:
The Programs & Events Intern will support the External Affairs Team across a wide range of initiatives related to the planning and execution of Global Ties U.S. programs and events. These include signature gatherings for our member organizations—such as the National Meeting, Diplomacy Begins Here Regional Summits, and the National Programmers Workshop—as well as externally facing events and partnership campaigns.
This role is ideal for someone with strong project management skills who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment. The ability to multitask, prioritize assignments, and adapt to shifting needs is key. Candidates should be comfortable using (or eager to learn) tools like project management platforms, event planning software, and marketing automation systems for email campaigns.
Through this internship, we aim to support individuals pursuing careers in event planning, program management, or international exchange and nonprofit leadership—offering hands-on experience in a mission-driven organization.
Core Responsibilities:
• Assisting with event site buildout and registration management
• Building project planning timelines, action lists, and run of shows
• Supporting the onsite production of both in-person and virtual events
• Writing and editing marketing and program materials (via email blasts, social media posts, website pages, etc.)
