The International Forum for Democratic Studies (Forum) at the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) is seeking a motivated individual to serve as a Research and Conferences paid Intern for Summer 2024. This paid internship provides an advanced undergraduate/graduate student with the opportunity to observe the day-to-day operations of a Washington, D.C.-based research center focused on democracy and human rights. The Forum complements NED’s core mission—assisting civil society groups abroad in their efforts to foster and strengthen democracy—by linking the academic community with activists from across the globe. In addition to its Research and Conferences initiative, the Forum also produces the Journal of Democracy, the world’s leading publication on the theory and practice of democracy, and hosts fellowship programs for international democracy activists, journalists, and scholars.

The Senior Manager will work to manage overall operations of the World Movement for Democracy Secretariat at NED. Will take lead & responsibility for major projects; provide oversight and technical assistance in the development of regional and thematic networks; play a leadership role in organizing World Movement global assemblies.

The Program Assistant (PA) will provide day-to-day administrative and programmatic support to the Europe regional program staff. This position reports to the Senior Director for Europe. The Assistant Program Officer (APO) will work with the regional director and senior program staff to manage the Endowment’s grant programs in the Eastern Europe region, particularly focusing on Belarus and/or Ukraine. This role entails managing projects, conducting monitoring and evaluation, and providing political analysis.
