A First for FGSES-UM6P Students: An immersion at the African Union in Addis Ababa
Published 04/24/2026 - From April 11 to 18, 2026, 23 FGSES students reached a new milestone as the African ID student club led a first-ever institutional immersion at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa.
This landmark initiative was driven by a clear ambition: to connect students directly with continental institutions and foster a deeper engagement with Pan-African dynamics. Over the course of the program, participants explored the inner workings of the African Union through institutional visits, meetings with commission representatives and experts, and exchanges at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Addis Ababa.
A defining moment of the experience was the diplomatic simulation, where students were placed in real-life negotiation scenarios. This hands-on exercise allowed them to apply their academic knowledge, strengthen their critical thinking, and develop practical diplomatic skills in a complex, multicultural environment.
Beyond the institutional exposure, the journey offered students a renewed perspective on Morocco’s strategic role within Africa, while reinforcing their sense of belonging to a broader Pan-African vision. It also created meaningful opportunities for dialogue, networking, and collaboration between students and key stakeholders.
By successfully delivering this initiative, African ID has demonstrated its ability to lead ambitious, high-impact projects that contribute to shaping globally aware, engaged, and forward-thinking students.
