Experts warn of growing cyber threats at Museum of Aviation event

Published 02/06/2025 - WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – With new technology, upgraded software, security threats, we all need to know how to prevent a future cyberattack.

That’s why the Museum Of Aviation brought in some technology leaders Thursday to teach us all how to stay safe.

In our technology-driven society, even a small breach can lead to major issues for the country. Nuclear threat initiative member Sam Nunn says staying ahead of technology is crucial as it advances.

“We’re talking about the capacity of the United States to fight wars around the world, and to prevent wars by being prepared,” he said.

Nunn says his organization is working to prevent future cybersecurity threats and nuclear wars.

“We have to work that problem everyday, and its not just the United States,” he said. “Every day that goes by, the world depends on warning systems working accurately, and nine separate countries have nuclear weapons.”

With artificial intelligence making its debut in the tech world, Nunn says we should take the positive potential of AI but not ignore its downside.

“It’s gonna take the private sector, engineering scientific community, the governmental regulatory body, and citizens participating, making sure this technology works in the favor of mankind,” he said. “And we don’t suffer the risk and the burdens of accidents and mistakes, and all sorts of disinformation.”

Nunn says we should all become educated on the evolution of technology.

“Accurate information is imperative for our economy, for our security, and for our democracy,” he added.
