On April 15, APSIA collaborated with Seoul National University GSIS, Yonsei University GSIS and the Korea University GSIS to host Exploring Careers in International Affairs.

Students heard from alumnae Suhyung (Amy) Cho,  Manager at Enlight Ventures; Dahye (Diana) Park, specialist at KNCU; and Hyunkyung (Jasmine) Lee,  consultant at UNICEF. The session was moderated by Linh Nguyen, APSIA’s Asia-Pacific Graduate Fellow and a Seoul National University GSIS student.

Panelists shared their pathways to their current occupations and professional experiences in various fields by a Q&A in the form of panel discussion. About 20 Korean students and young professionals attended the event.

Students who attended the event had the opportunity to hear about life after graduation, how they have used knowledge from GSIS program in a wide variety of jobs and careers, and receive useful advice about career path for women in international studies.

It was inspiring and encouraging for our students to learn about the contribution these distinguished alumnae are making in their organisations and how to thrive in competitive environments regardless of gender.

지난 4월 15일에 APSIA는 서울대학교 국제대학원, 연세대학교 국제대학원, 고려대학교 국제대학원과 협력하여 Exploring Careers in International Affairs (국제 분야에서의 직업 탐방 행사)를 개최하였습니다.

각 학교의 국제대학원 출신 졸업생 패널은 다음과 같습니다.

• 조수형, 서울대학교 국제대학원 졸업생, Enlight Ventures 매니저
• 박다혜, 연세대학교 국제대학원 졸업생, KNCU (유네스코한국위원회) 전문가
• 이현경, 고려대학교 국제대학원 졸업생, UNICEF 컨설턴트

20명의 국제학과 국제문제 등에 관심이 있는 학생들이 강연에 참석하여 이야기를 나눠보는 시간을 가졌습니다. 졸업생들의 졸업 후 삶과 진로에 대하여 Q&A의 형식으로 강연을 진행하였습니다.

국제대학원의 여성 졸업생들이 전세계를 무대로 자신들의 역량을 펼쳐나가는 모습은 국제무대에 진출하고자 하는 학생들에게 귀감이 되었을 것입니다. GSIS 교육과정과 프로그램을 통해 배운 전공 지식을 다양한 분야에 접목하는 경험에 대해 듣고 국제학/국제사회에서의 여성의 진로와 성취에 대한 토의를 할 수 있는 뜻깊은 시간이었습니다.
