GMAP alumnus Brad Snyder nominated for ESPY

Last year I shared a bit of news about Brad Snyder, GMAP ’19, who at the time was in the process of dominating the Tokyo Paralympics. A quick recap: Brad has won EIGHT Paralympic medals (six of them gold) in the vision-impaired category of athletes…IN TWO SEPARATE SPORTS. Having won previous medals in swimming in the Rio and London Games, he switched to paratriathlon in Tokyo, and the wins just kept on coming. In so doing he became the first American man to win gold in an individual triathlon event in and Olympic or Paralympic Games.

So…are we surprised by the news that Brad has been nominated for an ESPY? Hardly, but it doesn’t lessen the collective excitement within the Fletcher community. (For those unfamiliar, the ESPYs are ESPN’s annual awards show. Sort of like the Oscars, without the threat of onstage assaults during the ceremony). A shameless plug: interested readers can cast their votes here until the July 20th ceremony. Everyone at Fletcher will of course be pulling for Brad, and we’re thrilled at this recognition regardless of the outcome. Congratulations, Brad!
