Welcoming New Member: McGill University
The Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA) is excited to welcome McGill University’s Max Bell School of Public Policy. Housed in one of Canada’s premier research institutions, the Max Bell School brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to APSIA’s global network and adds a valuable perspective to the association’s work.
By showing students how to balance big ideas with the reality of budgets and politics, the school brings a needed focus on solving global problems through evidence and innovation. This collaboration allows APSIA to continue to ensure the international affairs field’s next generation of leaders have access to the highest level of training and mentorship.
“The Max Bell School of Public Policy at McGill is thrilled to be joining the APSIA community, to be part of critical conversations on how we adapt policy education for a new generation, and a new global environment,” said Jennifer Welsh, Director of the Max Bell School. “We believe we can both share Canadian ideas and expertise, and benefit from the wisdom and ingenuity of leaders of policy and international affairs schools in North America - and beyond. We look forward to many years of fruitful collaboration with fellow deans and directors and the fantastic APSIA team.”
For over 30 years, APSIA has served as the home for the world’s leading professional schools of international affairs. By bringing together top institutions, the association acts as a bridge between a world-class education and an inspiring global impact. APSIA empowers students, institutions, and partners to become transformative agents of positive change by advancing understanding, peace, and prosperity.
“We are proud to have the Max Bell School join our community. McGill has long been at the crossroads of cultural and linguistic diversity,” said Michelle Reddy, Executive Director of APSIA. “We are excited to further conversations around fostering future leaders and policymakers with our existing schools and McGill.”
The Max Bell School joins APSIA at a time when domestic policy becomes increasingly connected with international policy. As these boundaries blur, APSIA remains a primary resource for producing the expertise necessary to manage and shape international cooperation.
