Senior Director, Responsible Care, Strategy and Global Affairs
The American Chemistry Council (ACC), a national trade association representing the world’s leading chemical and plastics manufacturers, currently has an opportunity for Senior Director, Responsible Care, Strategy & Global Affairs for its Sustainability & Market Outreach Department. ACC represents its members on public policy issues; coordinates the industry’s research and testing programs; and administers Responsible Care®, the industry’s environment, health, safety and security performance improvement initiative.
The position is responsible for combining scientific, regulatory and business knowledge with leadership skills to support the domestic and global objectives of the American Chemistry Council’s Responsible Care® program. The position will work closely with the Managing Director, Responsible Care, to develop and implement strategies to advance Responsible Care® in multiple countries to promote strong industry practices and sound chemical management policies globally. The position will also collaborate with other members of the ACC Responsible Care, Sustainability and Market Outreach and Communications teams, as well as ACC member company representatives to develop strategies and programs to support the ongoing strength and integrity of the program and to identify ways that Responsible Care® can continuously increase its value to ACC member companies. This position will work closely with key internal and external stakeholders and reports directly to the Managing Director, Responsible Care.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in government, international relations, science/engineering or related field and 7 to 10 years relevant professional experience, including experience in global affairs with exposure to international policy making. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with multiple internal and external stakeholders on complex projects and initiatives as well as strong written and oral communications skills and the ability to cultivate and manage high quality stakeholder relationships are a must. Experience working with or in the chemical or related industry, demonstrated project planning skills and multi-lingual, i.e., Spanish, French, Hindi or Mandarin are preferred.
