Position Overview

Trickle Up is seeking a Business Development Associate to help grow its institutional donor portfolio. The Associate will gain the opportunity to learn how corporate foundations, family foundations, bi-lateral and multi-lateral agencies work in the field of international development. He/She will work closely with Trickle Up’s program teams across the globe and help create new and innovative partnerships. The Associate will have the opportunity to sharpen their writing, cross-cultural communication, and analytical skills. The Business Development Associate is an integral part of the organization and our efforts to share Trickle Up’s vision in order to drive resources towards those who need it the most.

Responsibilities

Prospect research

Regular prospect research on new key funders, assessing new Calls for Proposals/RFPs, and monitoring listservs or keyword alert systems
Maintain and update Prospect Database in SharePoint
Proposal Development and Process Management

Coordinate proposal development
Support the financial and strategic assessment of opportunities and the design of projects, including objectives, narratives, timelines, and budgets
Contribute to content creation for proposals, concept notes, LOIs, etc.
Lead copy editing and formatting of proposals following branding and style guidelines
Manage information related to proposals, including maintaining and organizing internal files and records on SharePoint and in Raiser’s Edge NXT
Provide training and support to Program Units on proposal development processes and tools
Support learning from proposal development process by conducting After Action Reviews
Handover of successful grant proposals to Grant Management team
Pipeline Management

Update Pipeline to reflect changes in prospect/proposal status
Prepare and distribute Pipeline updates to all staff on a monthly/quarterly basis
Track renewal proposal requirements and deadlines
Support preparation of Pipeline updates for presentations at board meetings
Marketing and Relationship Management

Support the publication of a quarterly newsletter
Track and engage with opportunities for exposure, publications, partnerships, or networking within key Communities of Practice
Support staff attending external events by with relevant research
Correspond with funders strategically and as necessary
Qualifications

Education requirements

Bachelor’s Degree as a minimum
Preferred experience

One to two years of experience in fundraising, communications, client relations, international development, or proposal writing
Knowledge and skills

Strong writing and editing skills
The ability to set priorities, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and track the development of multiple projects simultaneously, while maintaining a detail-oriented quality of work
Familiarity with budgeting and financial management
Strong proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; knowledge of SharePoint a plus
Knowledge of community and/or economic development desirable
Behavioral Competencies

Strong cross-cultural communication and collaboration skills
Being well-organized with strong written and oral communication skills, strong analytical abilities, and the ability to approach tasks creatively
The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Other requirements

Ability to work remotely as required during the Covid-19 pandemic period
Ability to occasionally work extended hours in order to meet proposal deadlines
Willingness to travel for short durations and in locations with limited amenities
