Technology Associate

We are looking for someone passionate about countering terrorism and violent extremism and who is comfortable managing programs and working with international stakeholders. Our new team member will be excited to support the ​​strategic and tactical output and impact of GIFCT programs and global partnerships. As a key player on a small, dynamic team, they will be integral to the efficient execution of cross-sector projects by managing up, communicating clearly, and embracing a willingness to learn with everything they do.

You will learn from and grow with our Director of Programming, Dr. Erin Saltman, who will serve as a coach, mentor, and enabler so you can leverage your strengths and subject matter expertise to most effectively support the GIFCT mission, team, and community through:

Global Program Management: Support the Director of Programming on the development and implementation of priority GIFCT programming. Lead the facilitation and tracking of programmatic budgets, timelines, and outputs.
Event Planning and Management: Assist in the design, planning, and hosting of virtual and in person international events, workshops, and campaigns. Monitor and evaluate program impact; make recommendations for increased output.
Working Group Coordination: Work with the Programs team in managing GIFCT Working Groups of experts from diverse stakeholders groups that are focused on critical themes related to countering terrorism and violent extremism online. Lead on preparing strategic work plans, including outlining objectives, goals, strategies, deliverables, and timelines.
Multi-sector Stakeholder Engagement: Manage relationships and engagement with individuals across sectors and geographies. Coordinate with our strategic partners (e.g., Tech Against Terrorism, Global Network on Extremism and Technology) on events, workshops, and research output.
Administrative Support and Other Duties as Assigned: As part of a small team, maintain a can do and will do attitude. Understand, appreciate, and lean into what it means to be a key player in an agile organization.

What you need

Commitment to GIFCT’s values of inclusion, transparency, and a real-world reduction in activity carried out by terrorists and violent extremists
Passion and curiosity for, and ideally some experience with, technological innovation, countering terrorism and violent extremism, Internet governance,, international security, or legal frameworks for content moderation
Maturity, confidence, and a action-oriented attitude to support the diverse GIFCT community and represent the organization at international events
An innovative, self-starter mentality; a history of proactively and successfully designing and delivering impactful projects or programs with little or no oversight
Strong verbal and written communication; a proven ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders in different geographies, disciplines, and sectors
Excellent attention to detail and deadlines; success keeping a remote team and multiple projects organized, coordinated, and on track
One to three years of work experience, ideally involving project management or coordination
Experience with program administration and management, event planning, or multi-sector stakeholder coordination, or program management in a related field is desired
A Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline; an advanced degree in the field would be an asset
Position Details and Benefits:

Permanent full-time position located in London, Washington DC or the ability to work remotely (with expected travel up to 15%; visits to GIFCT offices in D.C. and London and to member companies offices and other international events may be required)
Salary: $50,000 to $60,000 USD, to be commensurate with experience and location
