Program Coordinator for Recruitment and Compliance

The Rangel Program is a U.S. State Department program administered by Howard University that seeks to attract and prepare outstanding young people for careers as diplomats in the Foreign Service of the U.S. Department of State. The Program seeks individuals interested in helping to shape a freer, more secure and prosperous world through formulating, representing, and implementing U.S. foreign policy. The Program encourages the application of members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign Service, women, and those with financial need.

Location: While this program is primarily hybrid, all employees of the Rangel program are expected to be physically in the Washington DC Metro area, including Maryland and Virginia.

Graduate Fellowship Compliance and Data Management (40%)

Collects, monitors, and regularly reports on fellows’ program compliance data as well as updating and maintaining Fellow files (offline and online).
Assists in completion of quarterly and annual program reports.
Facilitate travel request for current Rangel Fellows completing program obligations.

Rangel Graduate Summer Programming (35%)

Coordinate fellowship summer orientation including travel and housing accommodations for new Rangel Fellows.
Support Program Manager with overall planning and execution of Rangel Fellow Orientation
Interface with high level speakers from Department of State, Congress, and other communities to coordinate presentation and event logistics. This includes managing schedules, technology, surveys, and other activities to ensure programming success.
Develop and analyze surveys to capture feedback from Fellows.
Support other Program Coordinators with other summer professional development programs including tech support, facilitating activities, and other event planning related tasks.
Recruitment for Graduate Fellowship and Summer Enrichment Program (15%)

Provides administrative and program management assistance for outreach and recruiting for fellows and scholars.
Prepares and maintains external contacts’ databases, and distributes information through mail-outs, press releases, and e-mails contacts. Helps prepare recruiting presentations using different software and media.
Arranges information sessions, both in-person and virtual.
Works closely with the communications Coordinator to produce promotional materials.
Proofreads, edits marketing and recruitment materials, reports, public facing assets (website, social media, etc).

Program Administration (10%)

Facilitate Rangel team meetings. This includes preparing agendas in advance, launching the zoom, taking notes, and communicating tasks with Rangel Program staff.
Oversee incoming inquiries to the Rangel Program by way of email and phone.
Update the Rangel program website and where appropriate work closely with the communications Coordinator to ensure branding standard are met.
Supports the selections process of the Graduate Fellowship and Summer Enrichment Program.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
