Development Coordinator, Government Funding
Mission
In support of GMF’s mission, organizational strategies, and priorities – and in concert with programs across the organization, the development team leads and executes GMF’s external fundraising activities that generate revenue, steward funding relationships, and meet accountability systems standards.

– Leveraging GMF networks to represent the organization positively and professionally in all development and engagement efforts; recognize the nuances of transatlantic policy issues and cultivate relevant relationships.
– Increasing, diversifying, and sustaining GMF’s donor base that supports an organization wide strategy for revenue generation and sustainability; employ performance measures and milestones to drive revenue growth.
– Working closely with program leaders to develop strategies for engagement with new funders.
– Establishing and operating effective fundraising systems – donor database, donor reports, recognition, etc.
– Accounting for all financial information and develop external revenue projections.
– Achieving high standards of performance in project planning, use of systems, tools and resources, and a working environment conducive to teamwork, continuous learning, and innovation.
Job Summary:
The full-time Development Coordinator, Government Funding will provide strategic support for the multilateral funding team in its work to seek, stimulate, and secure funding for GMF programs from governments worldwide. This position is primarily internally facing, focusing on constituent research, and coordinating and implementing engagement, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies with some direct interface with funders.
The Development Coordinator, Government Funding will work in close coordination with the other members of the Government and Multilateral funding team within Development, and with members of the programmatic teams who also work on fundraising. Other close collaborators will be the Strategic Engagement and Finance teams as well as other development assistants, gift officers, and the donor relations staff on the rapidly growing Development team.
The Development Coordinator, Government Funding will report to the Senior Development Officer for Government Funding.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities (in order of importance):
Strategic Support for Fundraising (80%)
– Conduct prospect research and analyses.
– Coordinate creation of supporting materials for proposals and reports.
– Draft proposal at the direction of supervisor.
– Develop their own donor portfolio in coordination with the Senior Government Officer, Government Funding.
– Coordinate internal meetings and meetings and events with funders.
– Coordinate completion of successful solicitations according to the team’s responsibility.
– Enter data to Microsoft Dynamics on constituents and solicitations to ensure that information is systemically recorded and available across GMF.
– Monitor GMF’s government pipeline and suggest amendments accordingly to achieve set goals.
Analytics and Admin (20%)
– Facilitate donor coordination meetings.
– Keeping minutes on ongoing internal discussions.
– Be responsible for formal acknowledgment letters to government funders.
Knowledge and Skills Needed:
– 2-3 years of professional fundraising, corporate social responsibility, government contracting, or affiliated experience.
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
– Ability to work in integrated databases.
– Strong work ethic, good judgment, ability to manage own time and collaborate effectively with others.
– Dynamic, self-motivated and focused with proactive approach.
– Willingness to travel internationally.
– Desire to participate in the mission of GMF.
Education: Bachelor’s degree required, and Master’s degree is desirable.
Salary range: $47,564 – $50,000
