Director of Communications

Princeton University’s School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA) seeks a Director of Communications.

Reporting to the Associate Dean for Communications and Public Affairs and working closely with the Dean, the Director of Communications at Princeton University’s School of Policy and International Affairs (SPIA) will help to develop and execute internal and external communication strategies for the School. This individual will be a seasoned communications professional with a demonstrated track record of developing effective communications strategies which elevate institutional brand and integrate communication efforts across all levels of an organization. The Director is responsible for the day-to-day planning and execution of the School’s communications strategy, and ensuring its integration across all communication channels, as well as serving as the point person for public and media relations.

 

The Director of Communications will work collaboratively with communications professionals within SPIA and the wider university, across a range of priorities. The individual will be responsible for developing high-level content for internal and external audiences and will actively promote faculty research at the School through research briefs, feature stories, press releases, Q&As, and news tips. The position will serve as the primary point of contact for press seeking to interview SPIA leadership, and faculty experts and will promote the School’s programs, initiatives and priorities. A core responsibility will be elevating the research of expert faculty, and proactively identifying opportunities to promote that research. The Director must be an exceptional communicator – excellent writer, editor and proofreader – and innovative about strengthening communication strategies.

 

This position will supervise the Communications Manager and Visual Design Specialist.
