Director, UN Procurement Division

Are you ready to make a global impact? The Office of Supply Chain Management (OSCM) is looking for an experienced, dynamic, and visionary leader to fill the position of Director within the Procurement Division at United Nations Headquarters in New York.

The Procurement Division is part of the Office of Supply Chain Management, which also includes the Office of Assistant Secretary-General (ASG), Logistics Division, Uniformed Capabilities Support Division, Global Service Centre, Aviation Safety Section, and Enabling Outreach Service.

The Procurement Division provides responsive, effective, and quality expert procurement services and business advice to the United Nations headquarters, field missions, and other human organizations while achieving the best value for money, ensuring a competitive, fair, and transparent process in accordance with established regulations, rules, and procedures.

 Key Responsibilities

  1. Managing and coordinating procurement services to support global secretariat, peacekeeping operations, and special political missions
  2. Direct and ensure coherent implementation of procurement activities in alignment with policy, adhering to financial regulations, rules, and established procedures.
  3. Establish priorities, performance goals, and maintain high-quality standards for service outputs.
  4. Overseas service resources and category teams, aligning with organizations’ category strategies.
  5. Develop procurement procedures for competitive, fair, and transparent procurement on a wide scale, while also providing guidance on procurement policy and conducting efficient process reviews.
  6. Review, negotiate, and approve complex, high-value contracts on behalf of the organization.
  7. Evaluate and recommend training for procurement staff in various locations.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Four (4) year degree in Business or Public Administration, Commerce, Law, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in procurement or related functions, such as contract management, contract administration, category managements, logistics or supply chain management.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in procurement including management of large-scale and international purchasing operations.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in managing cross-functional teams.
  • Experience developing strategic solutions based on client needs, using data for decision-making, and proposing recommendations.
  • Proven leadership in business and managing multiple strategic initiatives.
  • Experience in fraud risks and prevention practices.
