Intern - Business Development

IRI is creating student and employee partnerships that facilitate growth and development of IRI’s future leadership. The intern will support the work of IRI’s Business Development Division.

This position will start on September 11 2023, for no more than fourteen (14) weeks and may not be extended. This is a paid position, at $17.00 per hour.

Position Requirements:

Current student in or recent graduate of an undergraduate or graduate program in Political Science, International Affairs, or related field
Excellent verbal and written skills in English
Excellent research skills
Familiarity with Microsoft Office
Detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills
Ability to manage time effectively, work independently, complete tasks with minimal oversight, and communicate clearly and consistently in a virtual work environment.
Responsibilities:

Lead capstone project on business development topic/area of interest related to the democracy, human rights, and governance field that supports the work of the BD team.
Assist BD team members on active democracy, human rights, and governance concepts and proposals.
Monitor Devex and competitor hiring websites for information on upcoming and active competitive bids.
Conduct solicitation and USAID business forecast tracking with BD team oversight.
Support coordination of Go/No-Go and Kick-Off meetings as needed.
Support coordination of quarterly check ins with divisions as needed.
Attend BD-related events and webinars and circulates notes/key takeaways to the team.
Assist, as needed, with quality control and notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) compliance for submission.
Make note for reference of miscellaneous ideas, activity suggestions and approaches during design sessions.
Take notes during donor feedback calls.
Develop charts, tables, text boxes and other creative alternatives that can be utilized to improve the readability and aesthetic of proposal and/or cost narratives.
Coordinate updates to division organization charts and identify portfolios relevant for BD.
Works closely with Business Development Associate/Sr. Associate and Specialists to manage internal tracking and proposal management processes:
Updating proposal timelines and sending calendar invitations and review reminders;
Creating proposal sites for new bids;
Preparing and sharing overhead estimates for proposal teams;
Uploading necessary templates;
Creating agendas for internal meetings and planning;
Records donor feedback and incorporates aggregated feedback as part of design and cost strategy consultations.
Learning Outcomes:

Acquire knowledge of the democracy, human rights, and governance field of international development, including aspects related to program management, monitoring and evaluation, program and business development, and external affairs.
Experience in key project administration skills employers look for in entry level candidates.
