Program Assistant, Grant Operations
The National Endowment for Democracy (NED) is a 501(c)3 grantmaking foundation that receives an annual Congressional appropriation in excess of $310 million and is governed by a private, bipartisan Board of Directors. Position Summary:
The Program Assistant works under the supervision of the Vice President, Grant Operations and Evaluation (GOE) to support the VP office and coordinate initiatives across the department. Responsibilities include providing executive assistant support to the VP, providing administrative support to the Grant Operations team, and assisting with the coordination of operations across GOE teams to support a dynamic international grantmaking program.
This position provides the opportunity to grow level of responsibility and independence in assigned tasks with experience.
Responsibilities:
Serve as executive assistant to the Vice President-GOE, to include organizing daily/weekly schedules of meetings and events, prioritizing tasks and communications, preparing briefing materials and drafts, providing logistical support for travel and events, and maintaining accurate and organized records.
Provide administrative support for the Grant Operations team, to include scheduling, meeting preparation and minutes, drafting and editing documents and other materials, and other administrative support tasks as needed.
Assist in the preparation of grantmaking data and reporting for a variety of internal and external audiences.
Coordinate the preparation and submission of proposals and reports for the Department of State.
Liaise with all levels of staff to ensure that day-to-day operations and special projects are supported and completed efficiently.
Provide overflow administrative support and data entry for other GOE teams as needed.
Other responsibilities and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
Proficiency with MS Office, Excel, Sharepoint, Tableau, Adobe Acrobat.
Knowledge of standard office administrative practices and procedures.
Minimum 2 years work experience in an office environment, including administrative support for an executive, manager, or supervisor.
Interest in international affairs and the support and strengthening of democratic institutions worldwide.
Strong organizational and planning skills with ability to take initiative.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Adept at information gathering, problem analysis, and problem solving.
Attention to detail and the ability to maintain focus on tasks with minimal supervision.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of staff in a fast-paced and diverse, multi-cultural office environment.
Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
Authorized to work in the United States.
This position is part of the NED Bargaining Unit.

Located in Washington, D.C., the salary range for this role is $45,500 – $60,625 USD, plus benefits. The final offer for a successful candidate will be determined by a combination of factors, including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, education, and market considerations.
