Project Officer, World Movement for Democracy (WMD)

The Project Officer will assist in overall operations of the World Movement for Democracy Secretariat at NED. Take lead responsibility for selected projects; provide oversight of select activities; provide advice and technical assistance in the development of regional and functional democracy networks; play a leadership role in organizing World Movement global assembly activities. Title, responsibility, and salary are commensurate with experience.

Overall Operations of Secretariat
Contribute to implementing World Movement activities.
Work with Senior Manager to develop and manage budgets for Secretariat activities.
Assist in developing a strategy for World Movement’s youth engagement.
Develop and maintain relations with project partners and funders, including the coordinationusing and managing the World Movement online platform.
Contribute to the production of World Movement’s public relations materials, includingonline platform resources and materials.
Conduct periodic evaluations of the projects/activities; and,
Lead the implementation of the youth engagement strategy.
Community Building among Young Democracy Activists – Build a global community of young democracy activists for peer learning and solidarity building.
Assist other team members to coordinate the World Movement’s youth fellowship program.
Develop and maintain a network of the fellowship alumni.
Organize online campaigns for amplifying voices of youth activists and sharing their innovations.
Develop and manage online platforms for coordinating the community’s activities.
World Movement Assemblies
Work with others to formulate agenda, develop invitation lists, recommend speakers, and develop activities of each Assembly.
Liaise with and assist workshop organizers in developing workshop agendas and identifying presenters and moderators, including online webinars and meetings.
Facilitate and manage networking activities during each Assembly.
Assist other World Movement staff on logistical and administrative arrangements of each Assembly.
The level of responsibility and independence in assigned tasks will increase with experience
Other responsibilities and projects as assigned

Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs, Political Science, International Development or a related discipline; Master’s degree preferred, but not required.
Experience in international relations, human rights, civic education, and/or democratic governance.
Project Officer 2+ years of work experience.
Knowledge of political and social issues.
Experience in building and facilitating international civil society networks, including digital networking.
Experience in project development, management, and implementation, including financial management.
Proven experience in online community management, including digital networking, campaigns management and platform management.
Experience in building relationships with project partners and funders.
Proficiency in one or more foreign languages.
Overseas work experience, preferred.

Located in Washington, D.C., the salary range for this role is $ 51,750 – 73,125 USD, plus benefits. The final offer for a successful candidate will be determined by a combination of factors, including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, education, and market considerations.
