APSIA Celebrates 2022 Award Winners
In 2021, APSIA launched a recognition program for members and affiliates to celebrate the hard work and innovative ideas of the APSIA community.
Nominations came from the institutions themselves, as well as the broader community. In 2022, APSIA received nominations for 12 members and three affiliates in six countries. Representatives of APSIA members and affiliates evaluated each nominee based on a set of standard criteria.
Impact Award celebrates an APSIA member or affiliate who has contributed to APSIA’s success across the organization over time and helped move our community forward.
Winner: National University of Singapore Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy for their many contributions to APSIA’s work with deans/directors, admissions, alumni relations, career services, communications, development, employer outreach, and the public.
Inclusion Award for Community Building celebrates programs/efforts within the last year that bridged different groups and deepened a sense of connection within the community.

More on the Out of Afghanistan Projects – Out of Afghanistan, supported by the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, mobilized over 100 volunteers to assist more than 6,000 people fleeing Afghanistan in August-September 2021. The projects also brought together students, faculty, staff, alumni, and outsider volunteers to welcome threatened Afghan scholars to the University of Pittsburgh and support other newly resettled refugees in the state. Innovation Award for Professional Development Programming celebrates new or innovative programming that helped graduate students develop professionally in the fields of international affairs within the last year.

More on the Applied Workshops on Global Affairs – The Applied Workshops on Global Affairs, funded and supported by the University of Trento School of International Studies, seek to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The Workshops introduce students to specific problems of international relations, European affairs and policies, and international security by adopting a practical approach and innovative teaching methods. Students are involved in simulations, debates, role-play, etc., by qualified instructors with direct knowledge in the relevant field. Learn more here.
Intersection Award for Linking Theory and Practice celebrates programs/events within the last year that connected current affairs, policymakers’ work, and/or people’s everyday lives to the broader tenets of international relations.
