Updates from the Hitachi Center for Technology & International Affairs
The Hitachi Center for Technology & International Affairs recently released its annual newsletter, and it's clearly been a busy year. Under the guidance of Co-Directors Professors Carolyn Gideon and Josephine Wolff, the Hitachi Center encompasses everything related to tech policy and cybersecurity at Fletcher, growth areas of the curriculum that have seen increasing interest from students in recent years....
Fletcher congratulates Jeopardy! Champion Andy Tirrell
What a thrill this one is, readers. There was naturally a lot of excitement around here recently when we learned that Fletcher's own Andy Tirrell, a 2011 MALD and 2017 PhD alumnus, would appear as a contestant on last night's episode of Jeopardy! I was particularly tickled by this news as Andy is a good friend of mine from my own MALD student days....

As we rocket toward the year-end holidays, many of our applicants are just starting to get serious about putting together their application materials. This seems like a good time to highlight our most recent series of application tips offered by members of the Admissions staff....

8th Annual Conference on Gender and International Affairs
A flagship annual event is upon us, readers. Next week will see the 8th Annual Conference on Gender and International Affairs take place at Fletcher. It's an exciting event not only for its subject-area focus, which has established itself as one of the most popular at Fletcher in the past decade, but also for the fact that it's an entirely student-organized and led event. It's also open to the public, and I'd encourage anyone in our area to consider checking it out....

New student bloggers: introducing Gautier
I'm always excited to introduce readers to new student bloggers. Particularly so this year, as we have some new contributors from some of Fletcher's more specialized degree programs. Today we'll meet Gautier, a student in the Master of Arts in Transatlantic Affairs (MATA) program. The MATA is a jointly-awarded degree between Fletcher and the College of Europe based in Belgium, whose students spend time at both institutions as well as in an internship focused on the Transatlantic relationship. Take it away, Gautier!...
On the road
As I know I've mentioned before, this "season" is an exciting one as it's allowed us to start getting back to in-person events that have been off the table the past few years. To wit: I'm in New York City for the early portion of this week, representing Fletcher at Idealist and APSIA events, and conducting some interviews and individual admissions appointments on the ground in NYC. It's my first real recruitment travel since 2019!...
